68 Franklin Street

68 Franklin Street, Provincetown (2011), by David W. Dunlap.Three Maples Condominium

“Mighty Oak” might have been a better name for this two-unit condo than “Three Maples,” since 68 Franklin was for a long time the home of Lillian Mary Perry (1897-1999), who briefly held the distinction of being Provincetown’s oldest citizen. After helping raise her 12 younger brothers and sisters, she worked as a housekeeper for Richard Allan Oppen and Barbara Camille (Cabral) Oppen, proprietors of the Bonnie Doone restaurant, 35 Bradford.

Through the 1970s and ’80s, she kept on working as a housekeeper, at the Tides, 837 Commercial; and at the Gifford House, 9-11 Carver. The Boston Post Cane was conferred upon her when she reached her 102nd birthday. The house was converted to condominium ownership in 2004. • Assessor’s Online Database, Unit 1 • Assessor’s Online Database, Unit 2 ¶ Posted 2012-12-30
