220 Commercial Street

WA | ID

To follow the Penn Station analogy of the previous post, this building — no matter how impressive or interesting the tenants — seems unlikely to win over anyone with a long enough memory to recall that the Oldest Shop was torn down to clear the site. That said, the current stores are certainly well worth noting. WA is an Asian-themed houseware, garden and home furnishing store — stressing the concept of harmony — that was established in 1996 by Thomas M. Rogers, who had previously owned and run Tommy Custom Floral Design in Boston. It was originally at 184 Commercial Street, now the Marc by Marc Jacobs store. ID is a gift store run by Nick Robertson and his wife, Sian, who came to Provincetown from San Francisco in 1999. The online version is called Swell 24-7. Until 2011, Robertson was the executive director of the Provincetown Business Guild.
