Another direct descendant of Hawthorne, through Hensche, the artist Constance J. “Connie” Black (b 1929) bought this property in 1953 with her husband, Carl B. Black (b 1927). In a review of her one-woman show at the Provincetown Group Gallery in 1966, The Provincetown Advocate said: “As the inveterate opening night crowd flowed through the gallery, and as they learned that this was one winter’s output, reactions ran the gamut from Aaah! through Man!! to Zowie!!!” A brief profile of Black appears on Ewa Nogiec’s Provincetown Artist Registry. She was also active in an effort in the early 1950s to revive Provincetown’s little theater tradition in a group known as the Pilgrim Players. • Map • Assessor’s Online Database ¶ Posted 2013-08-04
